Youth Shoveling Positions Available Through Project Andrew

Alderman Cavalier Johnson, the Department of Public Works, and Milwaukee Community Service Corps have teamed up to launch Project Andrew, a new program to employ Milwaukee youth to help with snow clearance across the city. The initiative is named in honor Andrew Tyler, a school crossing guard in the Choice Neighborhood who passed away in late 2017 from injuries he received in a hit-and-run. The young people will assist Milwaukee residents in their neighborhood who have been verified by DPW as having disabilities or other impediments that prevent them from shoveling their own sidewalk. "Andrew Tyler displayed his commitment to service and safety every day, and it is fitting to remember him with this program to serve residents who truly need help," Alderman Johnson said. You can read the full announcement here, and interested youth should contact Mike Consiglio of MCSC at 414-372-9040 or mconsiglio@mcscwi.org.
