Summer Block Party and Walk with the Mayor
On Thursday, August 16th, the Westlawn Resident Council, Silver Spring Neighborhood Center and Choice Neighborhood Initiative hosted the Summer Block Party & Walk with the Mayor at Westlawn Gardens! Hundreds of people gathered on a beautiful summer night to enjoy free music, food, games, activities, and resources from many CNI partners. We were thrilled to be able to offer over 500 school-aged children free backpacks and school supplies with the support of Stark Foods, the Westlawn Resident Council, Friends of Housing, Silver Spring Neighborhood Center, the Housing Authority, United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County, UnitedHealthcare, and The Dairyland Group. After the festivities, community members embraced the opportunity to join Mayor Barrett and Alderman Johnson for the annual Walk with the Mayor. It was a wonderful event for families to celebrate the end of summer, get ready for school, and engage with their neighbors.
